How do I make the nacho cheese stick to the chips?

I got this jar of salsa conqueso cheese dip from the store but I want to pour the cheese on top of the chips and melt it together without burning the chips and everything. What is the best way to do this? I usually just dip the chips in the cheese, but sometimes at concerts or movie theatres when you get nachos and cheese and ask for extra cheese, the concession worker will dump all the cheese over top of the chips, and they kind of melt together, and at gas stations that have nachos and cheese when you pour the cheese on top the cheese and the chips gets perfectly stuck together. When I tried this before the chips just get too hot when I microwave and get burnt. Any info will be helpful.
